Living worthy of the spirit

Ah love to hear about my neieces and nephews. Hug them for me.

SICK that Zach will get his call in a couple of weeks. Be sure to let me know! BTW Venezuela is closed to Gringos. Crazy Chavez won't have it. Bolivia too. They try to kill them there. BUT yeah, every where else is ready for Zach Snow. But I say Colombia Bogota Norte! But

Hey you never sent a picture of the house! did you say its by a Golf Course? It'd be sweet to see it!

Yesterday we ended up working for the Colombian Goverment. Thats why i'm writing today cause they changed our p'day. We helped file and process visas? I think thats how the church is able to work to get them processed for us, is we promise service to them. Pretty sweet.

So pretty sweet week here in Campiña. More and more i feel like these are my last weeks here, thus there is a lot to do with so little time.

So about three weeks ago Giovani Silva´s dad (Jesus) came to go to the hosptal here from out of town. He has chronic back problems and no matter how strong the medication the pain won't dull. But what i learned with Jesus is that God has so much more power than what ever medication or chemical we can make here with our human hands. We taught him a lesson and I gave him a blessing. He woke up the next day and the pain was dulled. He went with Giovani to church that sunday and was convinced that blessing was real, and that he'd never felt so much peace in a church. That monday he went back to his old town and with the objective for all of his family to join the church. Ha turns out he did go to the church there and talked with the missionaries, but they never passed by his house. Gosh. But God provides and turns out because he´s taking a treatment here he'll need to be here for 3 months. So him and the rest of the family moved here yesterday. We set date for him to be baptized the 10th. He's excited. I believe the rest of his family will follow suit.

More and more I'm impressed that President Hacking leads this mission by the help of the Spirit. We had a zone confrence the other month and as i was walking to it I was thinking about what i would like to hear, what principle of missionary work i was lacking and which i could use help with. Turned out that that topic is exactly what he addressed. God is so generous with us that he sures are faith with countinual examples of the same lesson.

This week we had another zone conference, and with out fail, he addressed three topics that i was defiantly lacking on and needed help. It comforts me to know that I can trust in him. That he lives and strives to be worthy of the spirit. I

Love you all. and i´m so greatful for you all!

Know that God is there!

Sup fam. Super pumped to hear that cruise was super gnarly. I was more then content when I saw that practically the whole family wrote me today (besides Josh, put he´s excused because you guys were driving the whole day, but you better right me next week Josh! or else! just kidding... but seriously. ha.)

WOOSH! what a week. I guess you know when every thing is going great for a while, that a test from God is on its way. I guess we´ll start with the most recent that´s fresh on my mind. Ha, for some reason, i have no idea why, but my companion is pissed, outraged by me right now. Oh gosh.

Oh remember familia sabogal, the one that called us angels from Jehovah. that all three of them got baptized in like 3 weeks. super powerful in every lesson. Yeah, whelp they don´t want anything to do with the church right now. Oh gosh. The kid packed up all the book of mormons and phamplets and wants to give them to us. The grandma told the other missionaries that we 'dicieved them'. Goodness. This women treated us like her kids, twas rough.

But we learn and grow from everything. In all my dificulties this week, I knew I was never alone, I have learned in my mission, that no matter what time of day, no matter what situation, I can always look up. Through everything I can look up at the sky, at the heavens, and I know that God is there, and that He knows and loves me, that i am His child, that He hears me prayers, and that He is aware of my needs and desires. When i look up, i not only know He loves but i feel His love. I always, better said all of us, need to remember these things. He lives.

No matter what happens to me, I can be happy. This IS the promise really. That the storms of life can come and knock us down, oh but we can be happy on the ground looking up, and that with His help we can get back up and live life TO THE MAX!! what´s up! I know that if we let trials get us down, things just get worse.

love you all so much. thanks for your letters! i'll try to send personal ones más tarde.

OH hey! who's pumped for confrence. While i am!

mission accomplished with the move team. You guys might have been a little rusty after not moving for, 5 years. might be a record. Pumped to see the house, did you say its close to the new temple in Gilbert? Oh how i miss the temple, feel like its a little crazy that im ten minutes away but i haven't been able to go, due to a rule. It´s open here for holidays and there is one this coming p'day so hopefully i´ll be able to enjoy the Spirit that i have missed so much this past 7 months. Oh, and do you know if there is an estimated time when the Gilbert Temple will be dedicated?

Glad to know that you guys are disfrutando la vida latina (enjoying the latin life). One thing that will be hard to leave are tamales. Oh sooo good. This week we had a fundraiser selling tamales to the members to raise money so that a family can get married here in the zone.

Speaking of familys. We found a sweet one.

There a reference from Giovani Silva, the family that we baptized the end of January, called Familia Alfonso. They came to church this week and were diggin it. I´m pumped to see them progess. We´re going to start working on there papers to get them married.

Juan Carlos was baptized this week. His life is gong to change drastically. The ward is going to appoint a member to teach him how to write and read. Many many opportunities will be opened to him as a result.

More and more i´m learning the power of fasting. This week had its share of problems. and they all seemed to hit wednesday. So i decided to fast for 4 direct things. For example, wednesday, Elder Huaman woke up with bad bad depression, didn´t want to talk to me at all, and I had no idea how to handle it. So I started my fast. for that day and half of the next he wouldn´t talk in any of our lessons, until 8 oclock that night. We had an appointment with Wilson, a new investagator. I felt like we needed to watch the Restoration video, as a result the room was filled with the Spirit, and was able to talk to the hearts of all of us to remind us who we really are, and the truth of this message we Teach and listen to. Wilson shared with us his feelings, we helped him recognize them, he shared his desire to be baptized, my companion was able to invite him to be baptized, he accepted. We finished with my companion being able to give him a blessing of strength to help him quit smoking. We all left feeling edified. E. Huaman shared with me after that he had forgotten that he really was a Missionary.
When I have had problems in the past, and I didn´t have a clue how to solve them, I always came to you guys. It´s the same with our Father in Heaven. When were lost, when don't have a clue, and have no where to go, we can always go to him. He has the answers and he will always guide us when we ask for it through prayer and fasting. I had no idea what to do, but i know that God did with all of my problems. By the end of thursday those 4 things were eather resolved or answered.

I love you all, and am forever greatful to have you in my life.

No change this change

Querida Familia,

I´m so glad that I have a Dad that loves and appreciates his Wife, that happens to be my Mom.

I guess its the final countdown (dida dun dun, dida dundundun), three days tell the big move. Best luck, I feel bad that I can´t help you guys with my HUGE muscles. I guess you´ll have to do with out. Oh and I actually would like my room painted, its very specific -- two consective walls yellow, the next one blue, followed by a red one (see colombian flag for reference). But that is if there are 4 walls.

Welp changes came, and I´m gonna be kickin it pool side here in the campiña for 6 more weeks with the Huaman-ater. We were amazed by how fast this past change went and we are pumped to work so hard that this next one goes by even faster. We are finding some great people and families to help bring the blessing of the gopsel in there homes. We set a goal for 5 baptisms this month. We´ll be working hard, and praying hard to reach it.

I felt this sunday as I was walking around campiña that I wasn´t ready to leave. There were so manythings I felt that I still needed to do here, people that were prepared for me to teach and learn from. Feel so blessed to be able to have 6 weeks more to accomplish those things.

I was pumped yesterday when Huaman was so set on reaching our goal for contacting people this week. We had 27 sunday morning, our goal was 70, we finished yesterday at 9:15 with 71. I´m also pumped to be able to work and enjoy this time with elder Huaman. He´s became one of my best friends, and I feel like this change will be essencial for him and me. We´re one out of like 3 out of 60 something companionships that didn´t get changed. This next 6 weeks are going to be the best. I got super high expectations and great goals to help us reach them. I know that this area more than ever is ready to harvest.

i am beyond greatful for all the things the Lord has given me. For you guys, and your love. For his merciful hand in my everyday life. Our opportunity to repent, and the result of that which his happiness. I loved what Dad wrote me about a month ago. How greatful he is to be able to be able to change, and be forgiven of his mistakes, and be able to learn from them. I have heard so many people here tell me that ´people don´t change`. To me, this is the biggest lie i´ve ever heard. what a complete lie. That is why we are here, on earth. To Change. to excecise the Power of the Atonement and put away sin, and follow in the footsteps of Christ. Repentence is change. This is the divine purpose and objective we have this life, to repent, to change, to put our will in line with the will of our Father in Heaven, so that we can be happy in this life and live with him again.

I love life. i love you.

p.s. still haven´t received your pacakge. shoot. I´m sure it will come. i´ll keep you posted.

A ver poder

Ha, loved the Preston exprience. Pumped to hear he's playing baseball. I'm sure he's rockin it.

So I guess you guys are really leaving the beloved foothills ward. Good luck with the move! Fun Fact-- Josh will be the coolest kid there in 3 weeks.

Ah so today we had a zone activity and we played football and made chilian hotdogs? Ha here in south america they basically make your average hotdog and put every thing possible on it and they called them completes, including ketchup mustard mayo gocamole tomatos potato chips and cheese. Ha, crazy latins. but its pretty good. But my point is i don´t have much time but here is my favorite story of the week. Oh and Fam sabogal got baptized. PODER.

We were in a lesson yesterday, with a investigator that went to church that morning. Her name is Jessica, she´s 18, and has a 3 and 1 year old boy. She´s had a fair share of challanges in this life, but she´s ready for a change. Very very smart actually, I could tell in the lesson before that she had been prepared by the Lord. When we asked her about her reading she had read it more than once and along with other chapters. It was truely an amazing experience, she was able to relate a versus from the chapter (moroni 7) to about every principle we taught in the restoration. I don´t think I could have read it with that much comprehension. We drifted the lesson to end with a invitaion to baptism. She told us that, after she went to church and told her parents, with whom she lives, how much she loved the Church. Her dad bluntly told her ´you have to choose between our family or the church.´and that if she countined to insist she would need to find some where else to live with her kids. I don´t think, I´ve felt the spirit more in an a lesson than in that moment, the spirit told me, her dad will change if she accepts this date and does everything to prepare for it. I let her know that, she began to cry, and said ´pues, sí´. I learned two things, that we have the power to give specific blessings, and I think it's something as missionaries we don´t utilize enough. And that when you are obedient in all things, great things happen, and the Lord talks through us.

changes are this Sunday so i´ll let you know what GOES DOWNNN. creo que i´ll be here for another change, says my sources, but thats what they allways say.

WITH ALL THE LOVE IN THE WORLD,

e. adams
